Dodge Charger — 2011-2014 Cluster Upgrade
2015+ Cluster Swap Installation Guide
Complete install, Tazer setup, and troubleshooting guide
This guide covers installing a 2015+ Dodge Charger instrument cluster into a 2011-2014 Charger, activating cluster swap mode with a ZAutomotive Tazer, and fixing the most common issues after installation.
Before You Start
Disconnect the battery before removing the original cluster. Verify donor cluster compatibility before installation. Do not force connectors. If a connector does not fit naturally, stop and compare the donor cluster to the original cluster.

Installation steps
Disconnect the battery
Remove the negative battery terminal before working around the cluster, dash wiring, or steering column trim.
Remove steering column and cluster trim
Use panel tools and remove the upper/lower steering column covers and the trim around the instrument cluster.
Remove the original cluster
Remove the cluster mounting screws, gently pull the cluster out, and unplug the rear connectors. Take photos before unplugging anything.
Compare connectors
Verify the donor 2015+ cluster connectors match your original wiring. Do not force a connector that does not line up correctly.
Install the 2015+ cluster
Plug in the connectors, seat the cluster into the dash, and reinstall the mounting screws. Tighten evenly but do not over-tighten.
Install the bezel and trim
Fit the 2015+ bezel and reinstall the surrounding trim. Some 8.4 Uconnect setups may require minor fitment adjustments.
Reconnect battery and test power
Turn ignition to ON. The cluster should illuminate and run a self-test. Some warnings may appear before Tazer activation.
Tazer activation
The Tazer acts as the compatibility layer between the older vehicle and the newer cluster. After the cluster is installed, enable cluster swap mode.
- Plug the Tazer into the OBD-II port.
- Turn ignition to ON, but do not start the engine.
- Press and hold Cruise Cancel + Traction Control for 3-5 seconds.
- Wait for the cluster to respond, flash, or change screens.
- Test steering wheel buttons, gauges, lighting, and warning indicators.
If the button sequence does not work, update the Tazer firmware and verify the Tazer is powered from the OBD-II port.
Common issues and fixes
Mileage Warning
Only correct the odometer to the vehicle’s actual mileage. Do not lower or falsify mileage. Use service records, inspection history, or verified OBD data before programming the replacement cluster.
